For a Hemingway Weekend, I certainly didn't blog as much as I have in the past... and perhaps that is a good thing as I focused on the matters at hand. I managed to work my way through three new chapters as well as rework and edit 10 previous and outline about 5 more. This is not as productive as I would have liked, but considering I've been dragging my feet on this project for 2 years, it's progress and I've found my motivation to finish. We could blame the sangria factor on my lack of doing more, but I actually only had a few drinks (total) all weekend, skipping the sangria one day completely.
It was absolutely wonderful to take off a few extra days and extend my weekend to a five and a half day span. In addition to my writing, I sat through a 3 hour movie so enthralled that I didn't notice just how long Sex and the City 2 really ran (a first for me as those of you who have sat with me squirming through a movie know). Was it the best movie ever? No, for the brand, the writing was a little weaker than I would have liked, but it was fun... and for those of us who view fashion as an art, it was incredible. Time was spent with friends, cat sitting and reading two books on veganism (see below). If that wasn't enough, the Lakers made the finals (and I want redemption against Boston), the Union won their first game on the road, and while the Flyers didn't fare so well in the first two games, the energy around here (dare I say it) is reminiscent of being in Hockeytown USA when the Wings have been in the finals. Did I also mention, I found time to shoe shop?
Given all this, I should consider taking time off from time to time and not wait until I'm in a forced "use it or lose it" situation. That said, I'll be finding a few more days this month in lieu of "losing it" before the cut off. And maybe next year I won't find myself "forced" into a situation that causes me to slow down and relax. Yeah, right.
