Jolie Good for Kids but not Vegans?

It seems Angelina Jolie is dissing a vegan diet, claiming that it "nearly killed her."  I find it interesting that she couples that statement with her declaration of amour for red meat.  Anyone who seriously strives for or lives a vegan diet should be well aware of the potential nutritional deficiencies that came come with the lifestyle--namely anemia and B12 deficiency.  Not only was I aware of this, my doctor also made certain to up her monitoring of these two conditions for me (since I already had these issues going into the vegan diet).

It does make one wonder if Jolie is combating the most recent rumors of anorexia with a vegan distraction. If nothing else, I certainly understand it--even if I deplore it.  I say so, I realize, walking a fine line having posted recently about veganism not being a form of anorexia as was suggested to me recently.  Personally, if Jolie is truly battling an eating disorder (a judgment not for me to make) or whether she's a very athletic actress and busy mother to several children who's weight is impacted by her schedule and activities--I'm discouraged by her proclamation of a lifestyle that has helped so many improve their health.  If you love red meat, by all means, do what you must, but please don't come out and say the diet almost killed you because you love eating meat. They are not the same thing.
